After losing her mother, Chiaki, a middle school student, has her hands full taking care of housework and her younger brother Fuyuki. One day, when their father leaves the house for several days to go on a business trip, Chiaki hears something strange from Fuyuki: a white-clad shinigami with a black cat came over to their house.

These words cause a bad premonition to stir in the back of Chiaki's mind, because her mother described the exact same shinigami before she died...
